Sr. Frontend Developer
Sometrics is an analytics and ad platform startup company specializing in social media. We are well-funded by reputable VCs/investors (Accel, Venrock, WMA, AT&T) who share our vision and passion.
We work with social networking and community sites, developers, as well as advertisers and marketers to help them understand their user demographics to better enhance their consumers' experience. Social media is becoming increasingly important to advertisers, media, and marketers as consumers spend more and more time on these sites. We help them figure this out.
We're looking for a few hard-core front end developers who love working with 3rd party platforms, building on top of the social web, and work with bleeding edge javascript frameworks and techniques. You're a coder at heart, breathe the DOM, and have an eye towards user experience. And, you should love writing elegant, clean and concise code (read: optimized). We have an open working environment and encourage collaboration, teamwork, and peer performance reviews. We frequently do team building exercises and outings so we can get to know each other better and work closer together.
We are located in downtown Los Angeles, next to a Redline Metro stop so you can consider public transportation as an alternative to the commute. Responsibilities:
- Write, maintain, and integrate the markup, CSS, and Javascript for the front end of most Company websites, based on specifications and designs from the Marketing and Creative teams
- Explore, develop, and integrate 3rd party social networking API tools.
- Work with existing systems to improve upon usability issues
- Contribute to architecture that would integrate presentation layer with elegant back-end solutions for high volume websites
- Provide technical assistance in ad-hoc marketing projects as needed. This could include HTML email campaign support, merchant account implementation, ad-tagging, etc.
Requirements:
- 3+ years writing semantic markup (HTML/XHTML/XML)
- 3+ years writing standards-based CSS
- 3+ years of DOM and AJAX (JSON) scripting using Javascript
- 2+ years of Javascript Frameworks (YUI, EXTJS, jQuery, Scriptaculous, etc)
- Experience with optimization techniques, cross-browser/platform issues and HTML templating systems (such as Smarty, Zend View)
- Experience with Social Platform API's is a plus (Facebook, OpenSocial, etc)
- Strong attention to detail, good work ethic, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and good communication skills
- Familiarity working with visual design applications like Adobe CS production suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus
- BA or BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Sr. Backend Engineer

We're looking for a few hard-core developers who love large-scale distributed environments, open source tools, and interested in testing the limits of system infrastructure. PHP, PERL or Python should run in your vein, and the CLI should be your friend. We have an open working environment and encourage collaboration, teamwork, and peer performance reviews. We frequently do team building exercises and outings so we can get to know each other better and work closer together.

Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Experience with the LAMP (P = PHP, Perl, Python) stack
- Bash/Shell Scripting
- Source Control - Subversion Preferred
- MySQL 5, replication/cluster/large databases
- MySQL stored procedures, views, and triggers a plus
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux systems and the command line
- Experience with (x)HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Currently, Sometrics is looking for a designer.
Design graphic art and animation, and execute print, web andmultimedia directives for web marketing applications. Design anddevelop interactive features and user interfaces, and produce in-housecirculation, advertising and marketing collaterals. Utilize designsoftware including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, flash,Dreamweaver, web 2.0 and Microsoft Office on both Mac and PCplatforms, as well as knowledge of html, javascript, actionscript, andxml to accomplish duties.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design
- 1 year of experience
